What is Yoga 

What is Yoga and its Definition :The word ‘Yoga’ has been derived from the latin Language Sanskrit and this word yoga is derived from word ‘Yuj’ meaning ‘to bind’, join, attach and Yoke, to direct and concentrate one’s attention on, to use and apply. This is known as Yoga and this is the “Definition of Yoga”. It also means union. It is the true union of our will with the will of God. ‘It thus means’, According to Mahadev Desai(famous Indian writer), “the yoking of all the powers of body, mind and soul to God; It means the disciplining of the intellect, the mind, the emotions, the will, which that Yoga pre-supposes, it means a poise of soul which enable one to look at life in all its aspects evently.”

Meaning of Yoga : Yoga is very important for our Physical Fitness and it is one of the orthodox systems of Indian philosophy.

It was collates, co-ordinated and systematized by Patanjali in his classical work, the Yoga sutras, which consists of 185 terse aphorisms. The Yoga is a very vast term in its own and it says or teaches that the means by which the Jivatma can be united to, or be in communion with the Paramatma and so secure liberation (Moksa).
One who follows the path of yoga is a Yogi or Yogin. According to the Famous book of India “Bhagavad Gita ( part of Mahabharata Written by Maharshi Ved-Vyasa) ”, which is the important authority of Yoga philosophy, Sri Krishna explains to Arjuna The Meaning of Yoga as a deliverance from contact with pain and sorrow.

In words of Swami Digamber ji, “Yoga is a union of Atma and Parmatma”.

In words of Shankracharya, “Yoga is withdrawal of sense organs from the worldly objects and their control through Yoga”.

In words of Dr. Sampurnanand, “Yoga is spiritual Kamdhenu which gives what you wish”.

In words of Osho, “Yoga is pure science, just like mathematics, Physics or chemistry”.

Practically speaking, Yoga is a science which deals with the health of body and harmony of mind. The main object of yoga is to impart sound body with tension free and sound mind. The ultimate aim of yoga is “self identification and self perfection” which comes through “Self purification and self realization”. There are different types of poses and exercises in Yoga, Therefore, we can say yoga is  a way of Life, a means to enjoy completely, happy, healthy and peaceful living.
